Giving is a Key to Happiness So all this "giving" and "receiving" business gets very messy unless you are in politics or business or among very close relationships.The best perspective on giving and receiving is provided by Gibran's Prophet:"See first that you yourself deserve to be a giver, and an instrument of giving. For in truth it is life that gives unto life while you, who deem yourself a giver, are but a witness Giving or generosity is a very beautiful thing — it brings happiness to both the giver and the recipient. “The Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’ ”

Giving is a beautiful art… let’s not think twice to offer help or give away something that you can offer. Even after accepting that giving is good and that one must learn to give, Rivers do not drink their own water, nor do trees eat their own fruit, nor do rain clouds eat the grains reared by them. The wealth of the noble is used solely for the benefit of others? "When the wealth in the house increases, when water fills a boat, Throw them out with both hands! This is the wise thing to do!Even after accepting that giving is good and that one must learn to give. When should one give? One does not know really whether one will be there tomorrow to give! The time to give therefore is now.


'How much to give? "Give as much as you can!! What to give? It is not only money that can be given. It could be a flower or even a smile. "You can give anything but you must give it with your heart!! Whom to give? "Give without being judgmental!!’How to give? 'Give quietly'!! While giving let not the recipient feel small or humiliated. What should one feel after giving?

At a certain moment doctor will determine that my brain has ceased to function and that, for all intents and purposes, my life has stopped

When that happens doesn’t call this my “Death Bed”. Call it my “Bed of Life “and let my body be used by others to lead fuller lives.

Explore every corner of my brain take my cells and let them grow so that somebody a speechless boy will shout at the crack of a bat and a deaf girl will hear the sound of rain against her window

Burn what is left of me and scatter the ashes to the winds to help the flowers grow

If you must bury something, let it be my faults, my weakness and my prejudice against my fellowman

Donations without doubt, help the receiver. It also helps the donor because it draws out from the door a sense of noble purpose in life.

Social education that explains the life-saving benefits of organ transplantation, the enormous need for organ donation, the concept of brain death and religious teachings related to these issues is vital for creating a conducive environment for the organ transplant co-ordinator or physician soliciting the donation.

In this poem the poet’s wish to make donation of all the good he has. The poem reveals the poet’s respect and regard for all human beings. He wishes that every human being be given the opportunity to have a fuller life. The poem also reveals his selfless nature.

The title implies that life is a gift that we can make use of even at the time of our death for the benefit of others. By donating our organs we can help other people live or lead better lives.

Across the country Valentine's Day on February 14 on which lovers express their love for each other; sending Valentine's ...card candy, flowers, and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine. But who is this mysterious saint and why do we celebrate? The history of Valentine's Day -- and its patron saint is shrouded in mystery. But we do know that February has long been a month of romance. It's no surprise that by the Middle Ages, St. Valentine was one of the most popular saints in England and France. Valentine's Day, as we know it today, so, Who was Saint Valentine and how did he become associated with this ancient rite?

One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men -- his crop of potential soldiers. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine's actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death

According to one legend, Valentine actually sent the first 'valentine' greeting himself. While in prison, it is believed that Valentine fell in love with a young girl -- who may have been his jailor's daughter -- who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter, which he signed 'From your Valentine,' an expression that is still in use today. I believe that note started the custom of exchanging love messages on Valentine's Day. It was written on the day he died, February 14, 269 A.D. Now, every year on this day, people remember. Later, during the Middle Ages, it was commonly believed in France and England that February 14 was the beginning of birds' mating season, which added to the idea that the middle of February -- Valentine's Day -- should be a day for romance.

The oldest known valentine still in existence today was a poem written by Charles, Duke of Orleans to his wife while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London following his capture at the Battle of Agincourt. The greeting, which was written in 1415, is part of the manuscript collection of the British Library in London. In Great Britain, Valentine's Day began to be popularly celebrated around the seventeenth century. Americans probably began exchanging hand-made valentines in the early 1700s. In addition to the United States, Valentine's Day is celebrated in Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, and Australia..

In the 1840s, Esther A. Howland began to sell the first mass-produced valentines in America. Valentine greetings were popular as far back as the Middle Ages (written Valentine's didn't begin to appear until after 1400), and the oldest known Valentine card is on display at the British Museum. The first commercial Valentine's Day greeting cards produced in the U.S. were created in the 1840s by Esther A. Howland. Howland, known as the Mother of the Valentine, made elaborate creations with real lace, ribbons and colorful pictures known as "scrap".

By the middle of the eighteenth century, it was common for friends and lovers in all social classes to exchange small tokens of affection or handwritten notes. By the end of the century, printed cards began to replace written letters due to improvements in printing technology. Ready-made cards were an easy way for people to express their emotions in a time when direct expression of one's feelings was discouraged. Cheaper postage rates also contributed to an increase in the popularity of sending Valentine's Day greetings.
